Peer pressure has become a common thing now for children. There are several ways to deal with it. Instead of falling for it, children should learn how to avoid it. Peer pressure actually exists in all tiers of the society from children to adults. We are constantly comparing each other as human beings, and that is why we think others are better or we are inferior. We all should learn to walk away from it actually.
It is very difficult to not to give into peer pressure, especially when you have to face it everyday. However, some amount of attention should be given to self improvement. First of all be clear about what is right and wrong for you. Set limits for yourself, and keep in mind not to cross those limits no matter what happens. This takes a lot of determination, but works against factors like peer pressure.
It takes a lot of courage to say no to peer pressure. Always be wise about choosing your friends. If someone else manages to get you to do something which you do not necessarily agree with, then it means that they can control you. Does that make you feel good as an individual? People should do their own things and should not be a puppet in others hands.
Most children give into peer pressure because if they do not, then they will get teased and will not have any friends. Losing friends is the biggest fear for teenagers and adolescents. That is why teachers and parents put so much importance on choosing good friends.
