Type Of Peer Pressure

There are many types of peer pressures for many types of reasons. Peer pressure translates almost to every aspect of childhood. Children do not like being too thin or fat; everyone wants to look the best and everyone wants to be cool. So, children in their teenage phase get pressurized for different things, and for all the wrong reasons.

Here are some generalized forms of peer pressure that teens go through.

The direct form of peer pressure is negative in nature. Children blatantly tell their friends to come and drink or smoke with them. It is an open invitation, and whoever has the guts or wants to be cool, can do it. They are the ones who preach that studying is not fun and hanging out is more fun. Watching their friends constantly doing it will make your child want to do the same thing too.

The unspoken or the indirect form of peer pressure also exists among teenagers. They secretly admire someone, the way they dress and behave, and will want to covet the same. Teens always want to mingle with the crowd and be one among others. They do not like to be singled out for the good or bad reasons.

Positive peer pressure is the only kind of pressure that is good for your child. Whoever your child is looking up to is having a positive influence on him. That could be because he or she is a common hero in school or well accomplished. If your child is constantly hearing his or her friends talking about this person, then this person automatically becomes your child’s idol.
