Statistics On Peer Pressure

The statistics on peer pressure is pretty scary in the United States. One is the media is always reporting about kids handling guns and shooting other children blatantly. Another instance is kids being caught doing dope, smoking and drinking. These kinds of cases are only increasing year by year.

Kids are not that innocent anymore, and parents need to keep their reigns tight on their children. Peer pressure has its effects on many areas of a child’s life, like personal development, personality development, sexual development and also metal development. For example, if a child is constantly being teased about not having had sex, then they may actually end up having it. The person or the peer whom they are looking up to would have actually not done anything and is just lying about the whole thing. Young teenagers are habitual liars. It is the parents who have to check this habit or else, it could be very damaging.

The number of children who get pregnant by the age of 17 has doubled in the last ten years. Also, the number of teens who have an abortion at this age has doubled.

The consumption of marijuana in the United States has increased tremendously. Among this, at least 10 percent of them are kids.

The number of children who smoke also has gone up greatly. Teens are not allowed to buy smokes and nobody will sell it to them. This is what most parents think. However, teens buy their smokes from their own peers who are just old enough to buy cigarettes. They may not buy packs, but they will just get one at a time.
