Peer Pressure To Drink Alcohol

When your child is caught having alcohol the first time, you will be shocked as a parent obviously. You will wonder what gave your child the idea to drink. However, you should start thinking more about who gave your child the idea to drink. It is peer pressure and nothing else. Teenagers think that it is cool to drink, smoke and abuse drugs.

Peer pressure is present everywhere. From a Halloween party to birthday parties and house parties, there is alcohol everywhere. Children manage to get it and they will also pay for it one way or the other. Even if your child is as innocent as a rose, he or she will want to be a part of the big group and not someone who is left out.

Peer pressure is a phenomenon where your child is feeling the pressure to do something that they otherwise would not do. They do it so that they can be accepted among their peers. A peer is someone whom they look up to.

As a teenager, you should realize that when your friends are forcing you to drink, then the choice still lies in your hand. If you are smart enough, you can still say no without cheesing of your friends. Do not take on the role of an advisory committee, but say that you need to ensure they reach their home safely so you are not drinking. Always leave an escape route that does not hurt your ego and your feelings. Your friends need not know your real intention why you are not succumbing to the peer pressure and drinking alcohol.
