Negative And Positive Peer Pressure

Peer pressure is not always necessarily bad. There are two kinds of peer pressure. There negative peer pressure and the positive one.

Positive peer pressure: Like the name suggests, positive peer pressure can be good for your child. If you are lucky, then your child has some positive influence which is overwhelming than your upbringing. If the person they look up to has good qualities and is known for good behavior, then you are lucky as a parent. It also helps the child to learn good traits and they, in turn, can help to boost the self confidence and esteem your child lacks. Once when people start seeing the good qualities in your child, they will start praising them and it will automatically boost the confidence levels.

Negative peer pressure: We all know that this is a bad kind of peer pressure. Children learn all the wrong things from their friends, and parents realize this only when it is too late. Some children even get into habits like binge drinking, smoking and drugs, which are far worse. When your child does not have the right friends, then it is about time you stepped in as a parent. It may be your fault for not boosting your child’s confidence, but still you have to save them from further disaster. Take the issue more seriously than you would normally. If need be, change the child’s environment. Negative peer pressure can be very dangerous for your child from a long term perspective. Make sure that you keep a close watch on your child.
