As long as children have been there in the civilized world, there has been discipline for them. Every parent has their own set of rules for their children, and that is what is called discipline. A child’s behavior has to be socially acceptable, and also they should have a healthy attitude towards it. A child, who cannot follow discipline, will have problems later, and will find it difficult to follow any rules in life.
Some children are easy to manage and they listen instantly. However, some types of children need constant persuasion. For example, autistic children and children with other developmental delays may be more difficult to handle at all times. Parents and teachers have always tried different methods to deal with such children.
Using these time tested principles of discipline, a parent can also determine if their child is normal or not. A child’s behavior could speak a lot about any inherent problem in them. One of the reasons for a child’s bad behavior could be that they are unable to understand any kind of discipline or rules. That is why behavior and discipline plays such an important rule in child development.
For the last two centuries, child behavior was being studied in the United States of America. Four classic trends were observed. From extremely strict disciplinary methods there was a migration to more lax methods. This change has given rise to many questions about disciplining itself, and people are still trying and testing either of the methods. The bottom line is that every child is different and they have different way of reacting to situations, including disciplining.
