There is a lot of difference between parenting and positive parenting. Positive parenting is a responsible form of parenting. Anyone who has children is a parent as they take on the children’s responsibility. Being a responsible parent is quite different and here you are tying to bring up responsible and disciplined kids.
The first rule of positive parenting is being a part of your child’s life. Whether it is studies, play time show them that you are also equally involved in their lives. This also helps you to bond with your children in a healthy way.
When your child has something to say, listen to them. Do not ignore them. When you ignore them in childhood, they will ignore you when they grow up. It is something that they learn from you.
Learn more about your child and children in general. Understand their psychology and needs. This will help you to act accordingly as the children grow up.
Never compare your child with other children. Cherish your child and respect the fact that they are an individual. Some children may be academically far ahead than the others, and that does not mean that your child also has to be like that. Your child may be good at something else. So, learn to recognize and appreciate this fact.
Whatever you do, do it as a family. Have dinner at the same table, and also go out as a family. Instill strong family values in your children because that is the key for healthy upbringing.
