These days being a single person after being married is a very common, and single parent has also become very common. Every other person you meet is divorced or living a single life. However, when you get divorced after having kids, it is painful for the couple and also hard on the kids. Women, who are already experienced with children, find it easier to bring up kids than the father.
Single dads find it the most difficult to bring up children. With children, everything has to work on time right from their breakfast to supper. Also, disciplining is a bigger task.
How does a single dad get his children to listen to him without having to lose his temper or shout at them? Dads have to lead by example. If they want their child to listen to something, then they should follow it themselves. Children learn to respect when you show them respect. Make clear rules about what is acceptable to you and what is not. Also, mention the consequences before they break the rules. Once they break the rules, make sure that they face the consequences. Have them grounded or take away some of the privileges. Children do realize their mistake when you adopt to such measures.
There are many other issues you need to cope with like when you date or bring in a new person into your life, for example. Children should be dealt with gently and also coaxed into a situation naturally. Learn to understand your child and respect their wishes first if you want them to respect yours.
