As the days are passing by, the population of obese people is growing. It is estimated that 300 million men and women are suffering from obesity, and translates to around 7 percent of the world population. However, this figure of the world population is not distributed evenly. The US stands in the first place with the highest number of obese people. |
One in three adults in the US is obese. One fifth of the adults in the UK are obese. The population of obese people in the US and the UK is growing at a rapid rate. When we look at the past of these two countries, people who belonged to upper class suffered from obesity, but others were working class and they never knew what obesity was. This is still going on in many nations, which are in developing state.
The situations have changed, and now the social status is not the criterion to suffer from obesity. Any person from any social background is at a risk of becoming obese. Statistics reveal that the women are 4 percent to 7 percent more obese than the men, but this is not an indication that women are at a greater risk than men. It is also said that 50 percent of the population of African Americans are obese, but the people with the similar genes in the other nations are not obese. Not only men and women, but also children are affected by obesity.
The risk of being obese does not depend on the age, gender, color and the strength of the person, but it depends on the way a person is leading his life. So, it just takes some time of exercising and sticking to a healthy diet to keep away from obesity.
