Obesity is not just a problem with weight, but it can also cause many other life threatening diseases. The extra pounds on your body can decrease the number of years you live. People with obesity may suffer from heart diseases, strokes, elevated blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. It can also cause cancer, osteoarthritis and breathing problems. |
If a person has pain in the joints and back, sleeping problems, and sweats a lot, he or she could be showing the medical symptoms of obesity. These people cannot be active for a long period of time and they keep snoring when they are sleeping. And, it will be hard for them to take part in any physical activity, and if they do, they end up with breathlessness or shortness of breath.
Obesity can also be a cause of premature death, diabetes and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Obesity is also related to arthritis, cholesterol and gastroesophageal reflux. People with obesity are also at a risk of getting elevated blood pressure, strokes and heart diseases.
Obesity can be diagnosed with the help of BMI which shows whether a person is proportionately heavy with his height. If BMI of a person is more than 30, he is said to be obese. There are other tests like skin fold thickness measurement, weight-for-height charts and bioelectrical impendence analysis which can be used to diagnose obesity.
The fruits and the vegetables which have Vitamin C should be taken to burn the fat. These include oranges, kiwi fruit, mangoes, strawberries, red peppers, broccoli, blackcurrants, cabbage, lemon, Brussels sprouts and green peppers.
