Erectile dysfunction or ED is a common problem faced by men, when they have difficulty in getting and holding an erection. Though men over 65 are usually said to be affected by this condition, it may strike at any age, due to a number of reasons. However, there are a few steps you can take today, to either reverse or prevent erectile dysfunction. |
Step 1: Swear by Viagra, but not before checking with your doctor. What this little blue pill does is increase the flow of blood to the penis. The suggested dosage of this magic pill is 50mg, and must be taken anywhere between 4 hours and 30 minutes before sexual activity.
Step 2: Ditch those chips and sausages and start eating healthy. Foods that are high cholesterol and fatty are not good for you at all, since they lead to arterial plaque (fat), which accumulates in the arteries and affects blood flow. Greens and fruits are good for your sex life, since what they do is flush out toxins, cholesterol and that dreaded arterial plaque.
Step 3: Drink less coffee. Caffeine releases a kind of hormone called epinephrine in your blood, and this can block flow of blood to the penis. The side effects of caffeine are known to last for at least 10 hours, so it is better that you switch to decaf instead.
Step 4: Curb your intake of alcohol and try to quit smoking. It is a known fact that alcohol has an adverse effect on your nervous system, which, in turn, can have an effect on sexual performance. Nicotine, on the other hand, affects circulation of blood and may harden the arteries and thus affect the flow of blood to the penis.
Step 5: Take 500mg of L-Arginine every day. The amino acid in it helps produce nitric oxide, which can relax the blood vessels and thus make an erection possible.
