The list of top men's health threats is quite short -- it includes heart ailments, cancer and accidental injuries, and thankfully, all three are escapable. A healthy lifestyle that has room for adequate physical exercise, balanced eating, avoiding too much alcohol or casual sex, cigarettes and some basic safety measure like always wearing a seat belt and using safety helmets and ladders -- all go a long way in ensuring great health for men. |
Over fifty percent of men and women in the United States do not exercise enough to enjoy its benefits. An average adult should try to incorporate 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily in his routine. It should not cost much or become a chore; instead it should be something that is enjoyable and eagerly looked forward to every day.
The fun of working out is that one can do it anyway one wants -- alone in the comfort of one’s home, or in a group at the local park or gym. Anything from walking to jogging to dancing is good for the body. Smoking is another huge concern area as far as men’s health goes. It not only threatens the longevity of the smoker, it even puts people around him at risk. Quitting may not be easy but there is plenty of support available, through help-lines, medication and counseling groups. Same goes for alcohol addiction too.
Regular health checkups are a must to make sure that one is on the healthy track. These tests generally include cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, sexually transmitted diseases, as well as skin, colon and prostate cancer.
