An authority figure according to Christianity is a person or being who gets respect beyond love, and to whom a person surrenders all their rights and mistakes. An authority figure is someone who everyone turns to for advice and direction in times of need. God is typically looked at as an authority figure by religious people. When people do not know how to find their answers, they turn to God. |
Every human being, no matter how mature he or she is, gets confused, and like children we also seek comfort for our mistakes and direction for our confusion. That is why we need an authoritative figure to guide us in difficult times.
When we depend on God as an authority figure, it is not like God is going to come down and hold our hand and give advice. When we pray to God, who we think as an authority figure, we find courage and peace within ourselves. From this courage and peace, we on our own will find a way out of our problems. That is why being religious and believing in God is very important. Believing in God inculcates a positive mind set.
All human beings need protection and a parent-like figure in their lives. The earliest idea of protection is a parent for human beings. For children, their parents are the authority figure. For grown ups, God should be the authority figure. When it is such, life becomes a lot easier to live, and you will always find strength to make the right decisions.
