There are many families where the father is absent. This absence can be due to many reasons, like divorce, occupation, incarceration, separation or military service. So, the absence can be either permanent or temporary in nature. However, it is absence nonetheless. Some children cope better with the absence compared to others. |
It has been seen that most of the single parents are actually women, and hence, there are many families where the father is completely absent and not involved in the bringing up of the child. It has been seen through researches that children who have fathers end up being emotionally better equipped and have less mental health issues compared to children who have no presence of fathers in their lives.
In cases where the father is absent or is not the right role model, children can go astray or follow footsteps of the fathers. For instance, if the father is into crime and is constantly away due to jail time, the child will have a tendency to get into crime too. In addition, it has been seen that absent fathers also tend to have an adverse effect on the child's emotional stability and interpersonal skills. Such children are inclined to be emotionally fragile and are not able to make and keep friends. Also, such child start thinking that they are different from other kids and tend to get reclusive, or even join gangs to find their identity or get accepted.
Hence, in cases where the fathers are absent, it is important for the rest of the family members, especially the mothers, to keep reinforcing love. The child should be encouraged to speak about the absenteeism of the father and should be informed that the absenteeism has nothing to do with the child and that it is not his or her fault.More Articles :
