Fathers Rights In Child Support

Over the recent few decades, whenever parents get divorced, the custody of children is automatically given to the mother. In very few cases it is considered as an exception when custody is given to the father. So invariably the father is the person who ends up paying child support. However, modern science reveals that there is no rule that the child has to be placed only in the custody of mother or father.

The best interests of the child are considered. The father’s rights movement was initiated so that even fathers are treated equally when it came to child support. Some of the points that are covered under the father’s rights movements are

The traditional division of roles does not mean that the child care responsibility should be automatically given to the mother. Children get best care only if they are under the care of both parents, and at the most a joint custody should be allowed. After divorce, there should be equal parenting options. The custody litigation cases put fathers at a disadvantage.

As it became apparent that both of these models were fundamentally flawed - two sides of the same bad penny - a wide assortment of alternative models arose, each of which attempts to discern the custodial arrangement that is in the "best interests" of the children. Typically, these models include a presumption that the parent who served as the primary caregiver during a marriage should be the primary custodian following divorce.

Right now it has been psychologically established that a child needs both the parents. A father’s role is as pivotal as a mother’s role. Though women are ideally suited as the primary caregiver, children need their fathers as a role model also. For healthy and overall growth, children learn several things from their fathers. Even after divorce, parents should play equal roles for the healthy upbringing of the child.
