1. Hand Painted Necktie: Buy a light self-colored necktie in cotton or poly blend. Fabric crayons are easier to use, but they give muted and dull colors. Fabric craft paint comes in different colors and is the best choice. The design should be traced on paper first. A whole scene can be drawn like trees, birds, clouds, houses and cars from the bottom to the top. At the back of the tie, the artist can sign his name and date with a permanent marker.

2. Collage Picture Frame: Dad likes to take artwork created by his kids to the office.

A large piece of cardboard 15 inches by 15 inches is required. A pair of scissors, ruler, tissue paper in varied colors, white glue and a paint brush.

First, decide on the size of the frame that you desire. 9x12 is art paper size. Measure with a ruler the above size in the centre of the cardboard. Cut carefully on the marking with a scissors.

Then, mix the glue with equal parts of water in a small cup. The tissue paper has got to be cut in small pieces of different shapes. Put glue on the shapes and glue it down on the cardboard, overlapping them and filling all spaces. Choose an artwork to put on the frame. Fix it in place on the reverse side. The artist can have his name and date on the lower right corner.
