Newborns are very delicate, and they need dedicated care for the first few months. Taking care of newborns can be done efficiently only by the mothers. Newborns sleep for most of the time and when they are awake, they are constantly feeding. Only a mother can tend to the newborn. |
Fathers can play a role by giving a bottle feed to the baby. Taking care of a newborn is more dependent on instincts, love and care. As a mother, you would automatically know when your baby is hungry and also if there is some trouble. When you are associated closely with the baby, you can take care of her or him in every way possible. However, there are some basic routines you need to follow while caring for the baby.
First of all, be an attentive parent and listen to your baby’s breathing pattern and also watch their feeds. If they feed well, then nothing is wrong. If they are sick, they will not eat well. Until they are 6 months old, you should get immediate medical help if they are sick.
Bathe your baby everyday at the same time. Use a nice towel to dry them up and also keep them dressed warmly in the first few weeks.
Do not let your baby sleep for more than four hours in the night without a feed. Make sure they take their feed on time. Keep an alarm clock handy if you are going to forget.
You can do several other things like read stories, talk to the baby and sing to them. This will stimulate the baby’s senses.
