Teaching Rhyming Words In Kindergarten

Teaching kindergarten kids can be fun, but it is also a very responsible job. Kindergarten children, in spite of being so small, can actually learn a lot. Their brain is like a sponge and absorbs information. The biggest challenge at this age for teachers is having their attention and holding their interest. Intelligence is never a problem. Children are too intelligent at this age.

However, there are some activities that children like doing at this age luckily. Some of them are playing guessing games, singing small songs, and also reciting small poems. They love small poems because words in them rhyme with each other. Children at this age love rhyming words. They also try to make their own set of rhyming words.

There are several ways in which you can teach rhyming words to children. You can use objects of the activity also. Teachers can use a set of objects, the names of which rhyme with each other. Ask the kids to put the rhyming things together. Children love solving puzzles in kindergarten. So they will happily start playing this game. They also learn while playing.

Rhyming words can also be interactive fun at this age. You can start grouping kindergarten children in pairs and ask one of them to come up with a word and ask the other to rhyme with it. This activity helps them to understand phonetics better and lays the foundation for the future education. Children who are good with words and language in general can be good overall.
