How Do I Teach Kindergarten ?

Kindergarten kids are a handful. Teaching them requires a lot of patience and perseverance. The more creative you are the better you can teach the kids. Kindergarten children have very limited attention span, and so you will need to teach in the limited time span you have.

Always go prepared to your class. If possible, practice it once before you leave home. The more organized you are the better for you. One thing about kindergarten kids is that they are always messy. You will have to keep getting them cleaned up, and this is going to take up a lot of time for you. However, you can teach the importance of hygiene through these cleaning up sessions if you are creative.

Do not look for anything when your class has started. Even one minute is enough for kids to start getting distracted. Keep your pens, chalks and everything organized and then get prepared for a brain storming session.

Always start your class by wishing your students. Later on students will automatically start listening to you when you wish them. Children are more used to routine than anything else at this age.

One of the best ways to teach them is by using animal toys and stuffed toys. Children love animals at kindergarten age, and are interested to know everything about them. You can have a show and tell day if you want based on animals.

Children love charts, gooey stuff and colors. So, use them as much as possible in your classes. It would be messy but it is also fun for them.
