However, not all birthmarks are safe. Also, when you see a spot, you should get it evaluated to make sure that it is a birthmark. |
There are several kinds of birthmarks and they are in all shapes and sizes. One of the common kinds of birthmarks is the strawberry shaped birthmark in infants. You will notice a reddish skin that is soft and raised up. It is in the shape of a strawberry. When it is present in a new born infant, it could be difficult to notice as it is too small in size. However, by the time the baby is one month old the birthmark becomes more prominent enough to notice. This type of birthmark grows only in the shape of a strawberry even as it gets bigger. These are called strawberry hemangomia.
Usually the strawberry shaped birth marks go away with time. They start fading away by the time the baby is about two years old. When the child is about five years old, the birthmark may completely go away or only a tiny speck of it may be remnant. In case the birthmark is not going away and it continues to stay even after the child has turned five years old or more, then you should start a treatment by discussing it with the doctor.
