Infants are very delicate, and they have an extremely low resistance. Until they become strong, and have their own immune system protecting them, it is the parents' responsibility to guard them health wise. Some conditions are more common causes for death, and some are long term conditions that cause the death.

More than the long term conditions, it is some of the basic infections and diseases that cause death among infants more frequently. Here is a list of some common diseases and infections that prove to be very dangerous for an infant.

Diarrhea: Diarrhea is the most common type of infection world wide that kills infants. It is a problem for every country. Parents should immediately attend to a child with diarrhea in order to save their life. The earlier relief is provided the sooner the baby will recover.

Dehydration: Several people do not even realize that their baby is dehydrated. Unfortunately, this is the single biggest reason for killing babies. Dehydration usually follows diarrhea.

SIDS: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is more common in the United States than any other country. This is described as phenomenon’s where the baby is lying dead in the crib. It could be due to suffocation or sleep apnea.

Pneumonia: Even a common cold can lead to pneumonia very easily. Many children die every year due to pneumonia. Children who already have a breathing problem are susceptible to it.

Other Diseases: There are several diseases like epilepsy, nervous related problems, infections, brain diseases, spinal cord related infections and birth defects that cause death among infants.
