Adolescents are the latest generation that is stuck to computers and technology like no other. Though they do not have much use for it at this age, most of them are still addicted to it. Ask any pre-teenager if they would like to go to a park or a bicycle ride, they would simply refuse. The reason is they would rather sit at home and vegetate in front of the computer playing some violent computer game.

Also, most of their friendships are online versions, and they rather meet and chat with people on the computer. Cell phones, television and computers are promoting an unhealthy lifestyle among this age group.

Several parents would sincerely hope that their children be more active, and also spend more time studying. Parents hardly know what their young teenager is up to while at the computer. They may be researching, visiting adult sites or just gaming. For the knowledge group of a young adolescent, a community library will have several resources and research material. But for parents also, it is a convenient option to just buy their kids a computer with Internet connectivity instead of driving them down to the library. Adolescents and their addiction to technology can be easily blamed on modern parenting.

Even schools are promoting the use of technology beyond normal limits among children. Most of the projects they design are computer based. Even though a teenager an be more creative with the vast number of aids available online, they are also losing touch with other skill sets like writing and hand to eye coordination, for example.
