Stress causes wear and tear of the body. Everyone goes through stress, whether they are adults or teenagers. Our body is always adjusting to the changing patterns of the environment, and in the event the body takes on a lot of external stress. For adolescents, stress can be a long term one or short term one depending on the situation. |
The body has two ways of responding to stress in adolescents, and it is called fight or flight response. It could be due to an underlying fear or insecurity. When people are stressed the muscles become tense and the heart rate increases. If the body is facing stress from multiple sources, then it leads to serious dangers.
As an adolescent, every child is undertaking more than their share of pressure. It is in the form of studies, peer pressure, environment at home and also toxic stress caused by food and dietary habits. However, the only way to stabilize their life is that parents should make sure their children are eating well and healthy. Also, they should make the home environment as safe as possible for them from an emotional stand point.
An adolescent child with healthy mind and body can easily combat stress. Also, some amount of exercise everyday in the form of yoga and pranayama could be of great value to the children. They can combat and fight stress easily.
A recent research indicates that children and adolescents put on weight due to stress, and also develop unhealthy eating habits. To avoid this, adolescents have to learn to eat vegetables and other healthy food, and also exercise everyday.
