About 3 to 4 decades back, parents did not attach too much importance to the selection process of names for their new born. Sometimes the name chosen was suggested by a close relative or a friend, an elder person in the family whose word was considered final or better still names were inspired by festivals or celebrities. As a consequence of such limited availability of resource, one often studied in a class with a number of children with the same names, one or two would have your name as well! |
However, the present generation is certainly more agile to the situation. In fact, today’s parents go to any extent to find a name as uncommon or unique as possible for their precious one.
While unique could be appreciable but on the hind side there are associated hassles as well. At times, in the spirit of choosing a different name parents end up with names that are extremely difficult to pronounce or one’s whose spelling is always impossible to decipher by an unknown person. Therefore, one must remember that it is a great idea to select an uncommon name for your child but only to the extent that it should not become a matter of ridicule for him or her in the years to come.
Some of the uncommon names for baby girls with their meanings include Aleta (winged), Aria (a musical tune), Betony (it is a plant that gives beautiful purple flowers), Fallon (descended from a ruler), Jennyver (white wave), Kiba (protected), Reveka (captivating), Solaine (dignified) and Zenith (the point in the heaven directly above you). Some unique names for baby boys include Axiom (self evident truth), Chroma (purity of a color), Motega (new arrow), Tabbart (brilliant) and Welkin (the sky).
