Names that ideally indicate the Almighty alone such as Malik Al-Mulk (The King of Kings) and Al-Khaliq (The Creator) are considered befitting only for Him and human beings are not permitted to use them.

Muslims are also forbidden to name their children with names of despots like Pharoah and Abu Jahl, and names that denote negative meanings such as Hazn (rugged) or Harb (war). Some of the most popular Islamic boy names include Aaban, Aahil, Aaryan, Aayan and Aariz; while some good girl names originating from Islam include Eshal, Zaara, Alesha, Maya and Aleena.
